Applied Skills : Deploy and configure Azure monitor issues
Has anyone managed to pass this applied skills? I’ve already taken it twice and I can’t complete 3 tasks.
First, it asks to configure file and configuration tracking for a web app in Change Analysis (classic), which is no longer available.
Second, it asks to enable Insights on a VM, but the user doesn’t have the permissions to do it, and they can’t be added.
Third, it asks to create a connection test between two VMs, but the user isn’t authorized to add the Network Watcher extension to the Linux VM.
Both times I scored 69% (75% needed) and it marked those tasks as not completed.

hi Satoshi4ever You’re not alone — a few people have run into similar issues with the Applied Skills labs for Azure Monitor. Some common blockers:
Change Analysis (classic)
This feature is deprecated in favor of the newer Change Analysis experience in Azure Monitor, so tasks referencing the classic version may not be possible anymore.
Insights on a VM
The lab assumes you have owner or contributor permissions on the VM. If the lab environment restricts these rights, you won’t be able to complete the step.
Network Watcher / connection tests
Linux VM extensions require specific role assignments, and some lab environments don’t allow adding them.
Suggestions:
Post feedback via the Microsoft Learn “Report an issue” button on the module — they sometimes update lab instructions when features are deprecated.
Check if there’s an updated version of the lab or a newer learning path that reflects current Azure Monitor capabilities.
If possible, request a sandbox with proper permissions, so the tasks can actually be completed.
It seems like your 69% score may be caused by lab environment limitations rather than your performance.
