Windows defender is having a lot of problems.
Because the same failure occurs in the Defender app, web dashboard, and multiple devices, this is unlikely to be a local problem. Identity theft monitoring is available only to United States customers, so confirm that the Microsoft account owning the Family subscription is eligible and signed into Defender. Do not submit an SSN while the service returns errors. In the Defender dashboard, open Dark web monitoring, select the ellipsis, and try “Remove all your info.” Microsoft states that this removes information supplied to identity monitoring, although Experian breach or credit data is handled separately. If verification and removal both fail, capture the time, account, subscription owner, screenshots, and error, then contact Microsoft Support for Defender and request escalation for identity theft monitoring. Because this workflow handles sensitive identity data through an Experian-backed service, support must inspect the account-side enrollment state; reinstalling Defender is unlikely to correct it.
