Microsoft Defender For Endpoint Mobile

Dear members,

I have few queries and would like to get feedback from community members.

- Would like to test the product Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (Android / iOS) and need to know which Trial licences would be required to successfully complete the testing.

- Are there any best practices documentation for Android and iOS settings ?

- Testing scenarios (Phishing etc)

- As I read somewhere, we need to configure the VPN profile, so would like to know if it is mandatory and use of VPN profile.

I installed MDE on my Android device, it didn't require inTune or a VPN. A lot of the information you can find with a simple web search is out of date AFAIK. I just installed the app from the Play store and then used my Azure AD credentials to join it to our tenant (we have E3 MDE license I think, FWIW). The device showed up in MDE, but I wasn't impressed. it doesn't collect telemetry, the only information in MDE is a note that the Android version is out of date. It might be getting some enhanced protection via Windows Defender, that was unclear.

      Thank you for your support.

I took a little time to go through and configure it in my test license. I was able to test most of the scenarios (ex. web protection, App scanning) and it seems working. I am now fine tuning the alerts, setting up severity and configuring notification etc.

      I have one additional query,

For Android, the MDE Mobile Threat Defence,

      - Having MDE on Android Work profile will only scan Apps in Work profile so how do we  protect both profiles in a corporate phone ?

       - Even if we have Defender in work profile, does it Monitors network and abnormal behavior on the device ? while only scanning apps in Work profile

      - I have tried to place Defender in both profiles but could not activate in personal profile even though it is active in the Work profile ? Having it in two profiles would consume 2 license or single ?

      Any suggestions on it ?

It would be a great help 🙂
