Semantic Index for all users?
Hi JWiersem1925,
There are some search methods like from Edge:
From copilot.microsoft.com or bing.com/chat:
Currently, I see a lot of possibilities for improvement, the results are not as good as in the promotional videos, but this is marketing! Let's see the answer from Copilot for Microsoft 365 in Word:
Maybe, a configuration on my side...
For the Semantic index properties, maybe you can find some information here: Examine how Copilot for Microsoft 365 uses the Semantic Index - Training | Microsoft Learn.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Hi Andre_Caron,
I'm a bit unsure exactly how the functionality shown in your screenshots is actually working, as Microsoft says that bing.com/chat and copilot.microsoft.com have no access to the organisations graph data. The only thing I can think of is that the websites recognise that your organisation has Copilot for Microsoft 365 enabled and you individually have a license, and that your prompts are being redirected to the copilot services inside your tenant. Is this right?
If so, is the same functionaility available for other organisation users who do not have Copilot for Microsoft 365 licenses?
Thanks.

Hi TimMcG,
I am currently a licensed user of “Copilot for Microsoft 365”. When utilizing Copilot in Edge or via bing.com/chat (which is equivalent to copilot.microsoft.com), there is an option to switch the data source between ‘Work’ and ‘Web’. However, this feature is not available for personal accounts or professional accounts that do not have Copilot.
It’s worth noting that a “Protected” icon appears when web sources are utilized, as I am a “Copilot for Microsoft 365” license holder. This icon signifies that my data is neither shared nor used for training purposes. Please refer to the previously provided screen captures and the following one for further details.
I hope this may clarify.
Kind regards,

- JWiersem1925Jan 30, 2024Copper ContributorWe have everthing related to Bing search and chatting, or adding web content into our search disabled due to security restrictions. But I hope we will get the semantic index results page in our MS Search results once we are utilizing the Copilot licenses we bought. But even MS itself is not sure when or how this will happen 🙂
