copilot pro license use in VS Code

I have purchased a Copilot pro license as part of the Office 365 Family subscription. Can I use it for VS Code for Copilot chat and get some code help in bug fixing and code refactoring. I have run out of the free monthly credits on VS Code.

Please advise if this license can be used, or do I need to signup another copilot pro plan linked to github?

Thanks, Vin

    Hi, Vin

To my knowledge, the Copilot Pro included with Microsoft 365 Family only works in Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.) and does not cover GitHub Copilot in VS Code.
For code completions, chat, and refactoring in VS Code, you need a separate GitHub Copilot subscription. The two services are billed and managed separately.

    Best regards!

After installing the VS Code extension, you can use Copilot Pro by logging into your Microsoft 365 account. Enterprise users need to confirm Entra ID permissions. Note that developer mode must be enabled for API calls, and features in the personal version may be limited.
