Agent Knowledge Data Only in Scope
If an Agent is setup with specific files added to the Knowledge section, and that is all that is added to the Knowledge of the Agent...i.e. no external websites or SharePoint sites internally, will both M365 Copilot Chat users and M365 Copilot users only see answers from the Agent based on the data in the files tied into the Knowledge setup? Or will M365 Copilot users still get data from available SharePoint and other sources? Same question applies if you add only a specific SharePoint document library to the Knowledge, does the Agent's data only come from there and won't pull from other areas?
Thanks.

End user will only see whatever are they are authorized to see . No permission elevation by copilot .

Yes, if you set up an Agent with only specific files or a SharePoint document library in its Knowledge, it will use only that data to generate answers. M365 Copilot Chat and Copilot users interacting with that Agent won’t get results from other sources like other SharePoint sites or general Microsoft 365 content, only what’s been added to the Agent's Knowledge.
So, the Agent stays focused on the sources you define, and doesn’t pull from unrelated data.

You can do this by logging in to the Microsoft 365 Copilot admin panel and navigating to Copilot Settings > Knowledge Base → Modify Data Scope Permissions.
