Using Office Pro Plus in a multi user environment

I need to understand the correct edition of Office 365 I can run in a RDSH environment which will allow the Desktop suite to run on a Virtual Machine (Server 2012R2/2016) along with the ability to use the Shared Computer Activation feature for the local Office ProPlus Install.

Looking at the following  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/office-applications-service-description/office-applications-service-description I need to run at the very least the E3 plan. Is this correct? I thought I could get away with Business Premium but does not like the case.

Can anyone clarify what the Feature, Desktop Virtualisation actually covers (is this VDI as well as RDSH or something else)?

For sure the Shared Computer Activation feature requires E3 at the minimum.

  • Hi Chris,

You will need E3 for the users that need to use in RDSH. Please install it with Office Deployment Toolkit with the Shared Computer Activation.
