Servicing Profile filtering for 32- vs. 64-bit

We have a challenge adopting Monthly Enterprise Channel through Servicing Profile for our 5,5k users currently on Semi-Annual Channel because a lot of users stuck on 32-bit M365 apps are running legacy add-ins which we need to be more cautious about running on frequent patch cycles.

We know however that our 64-bit users are not dependent on these and we can therefore give them the pleasure of monthly updates while maybe also encourage users to upgrade to 64-bit to get more modern.

Since you already have telemetry giving bitness info, would you be willing to consider adding a filter function under Servicing Profile settings to choose 32, 64 or both?

Thank you, keep up the great work.

  • Hi Pal, thanks for the suggestion, I will raise this to our engineering team and discuss such a selection criteria. As a workaround you could use the AzureAD group filtering in the Servicing profiles. Specify an AzureAD group and add devices/users to it which are knowingly using x64. If you are using SCCM, you could use SCCM to add all devices with Office x64 to a collection and use the collection-AzureAD group-sync feature to sync those devices to the group which you are using for Servicing Profiles. It's a bit cumbersome, but could potentially work and solve your issue.

Thanks again for the suggestion, if you have additional feedback, we are happy to take it!
