How can I paste a picture without it expanding the content box

When I paste a picture which I cut from a screenshot it is normally much larger than the content box I want to place it in. When doing so, it expands the content box. I would like that the picture I paste is automatically following the content box size and downsizes itself accordingly. Is this possible somehow?
