Is practice Labs Enough for the AZ-305 Exam?
AZ-305 is not an implementation exam. It is an architecture and design exam. That changes everything.
The questions are scenario-based and require you to evaluate trade-offs, design decisions, governance models, identity strategy, networking architecture, cost optimization, and resilience. It tests whether you can design solutions, not just configure them.
Learning Path quizzes are helpful for knowledge validation, but they do not simulate the depth or complexity of the real exam.
I would recommend combining:
- Hands-on experience (especially with networking, identity, governance, and high availability scenarios)
- Reviewing Microsoft architecture documentation (Well-Architected Framework, Cloud Adoption Framework)
- Practicing scenario-based questions
- Understanding why one design is better than another, not just how to implement it
Focus areas that typically matter a lot:
- Identity and RBAC design
- Network architecture and hybrid connectivity
- High availability and disaster recovery
- Data platform selection
- Governance and landing zones
- Cost optimization and monitoring
If you approach AZ-305 as an “architect mindset” exam instead of a technical configuration exam, you’ll be much better prepared.
If you already have real-world Azure experience, that’s your biggest advantage.
