DLP and sensitivity labels

Hi all,

Perhaps I'm a little confused, what is the difference between DLP and Sensitivity labels as it seems to me both share or overlap in functionality.

Thanks

    Hello Dman74,

DLP is a system where you can build policies using created sensitivity labels. Lable is like a stamp and without DLP policies it is just a stamp.

For example, you can restrict users from sending documents labeled as "Confidential" to external domains.

      • thanks for this but I can encrypt and prevent emails going extenal using DLP on its own so seems like the labels are overkill no?

I am not sure you can encrypt emails without labels just by using DLP. Have you managed to do that?
