Authenticator suddenly stopped allowing user to approve session

One of my users has suddenly been unable to approve a sign on session through the Authenticator app.  She was set up to receive push notifications.  This has been working for a couple of years.  Yesterday, the app would flash on her phone to approve but would immediately disappear.  The session would be disapproved.  This is what I have done:

1) In Azure AD (Entra) I clicked on "Require re-register multi factor authentication".  This forced her to re-setup MFA but only allowed for M365 to send a text message to her phone number.  (Something I don't want to do).  However the Text never arrived.

2) I then deleted all authentication methods in Azure Admin.  This gave the same results

3) Finally, I disabled MFA on her account individually and then Enabled it.  Same results.

The user never received phone text and never allowed us to setup MFA with the QR code.  Thanks for any help.

  • CPI7476 Could you please check if this user is blocked https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_AAD_IAM/MultifactorAuthenticationMenuBlade/~/BlockedUsers/fromProviders~/false

  • Some times you have to delete the App and re-install the APP
and then as a admin reset the MFA authentication

Thank you. This has been resolved. The user had been blocked and I needed to reset the MFA authentication

Yes, the user is blocked. Not sure how this could've happened.
