How to Use Your Refugee Identity Document for Microsoft Certification Testing
- Oct 12, 2026
Hi Intuitivescheme,
This does not appear to be a policy designed to limit access to Microsoft Certification for refugees. Microsoft requires candidates taking exams through Pearson VUE to comply with Pearson VUE's applicable identification requirements. Refugee Identity Documents are not specifically identified in the published policy as a prohibited form of identification, but acceptance depends on whether the document satisfies the applicable ID requirements. If Pearson VUE does not accept the document under the standard policy, an ID-policy exception may need to be requested and pre-approved by the exam sponsor before the exam appointment.

I appreciate your reply. Following up on your suggestion, I reached out to Pearson VUE again to inquire about an exception to the ID policy. They informed me that this request needs to be directed to Microsoft. Would you be able to provide contact details for the appropriate department or individual at Microsoft who can address an ID-policy exception?
