Update Apple VPP Apps only via Wifi
Hallo zusammen,
kde2408 No problem.
There actually seem to be several related to VPP updates and having more control over which apps to update and how, you check some of these out here:
- Restrict iOS app updates to wifi only (very low vote count at the moment)
- Ability to update specific VPP app on one device or more

Hi kde2408
There are some restrictions around this topic, maybe you can use that?
- Configure a policy for iOS/iPadOS with the Device restriction type
- Expand Wireless configuration options
- Expand Block use of cellular data
- From Dropdown list pick All managed apps or Choose specific apps

kde2408 Hmm, not sure what the best option would be but maybe disabling the VPP automatic update would be smart in your case. Can't think of any other ways right now.
As far as I know both of the Automatic Update options under Settings are enabled by default meaning users are already getting quite a robust framework for receiving app updates. Had a quick look around the web and found the following checks, unfortunately did not find any official documentation on the topic.
Automatic App update checks:
- The iOS device must be on and/or asleep.
- The iOS device must be connected to power and/or battery is almost full.
- The iOS device must be connected to a cellular data network and/or Wi-Fi.
- Updates larger than 100MB will only be downloaded over Wi-Fi, never cellular.
- If device is in Low Power Mode it will not update

As an alternative you could try to deploy some VPP as App Store apps instead and only leave the most important apps in the mandatory app deployment.
