My free Copilot account is being blocked with a “daily limit reached” message after only 3–4 prompts

Hello, my free Microsoft Copilot account is being blocked with a “daily limit reached” message after only 3–4 normal prompts, even when starting new conversations.

The issue happens both in the Copilot app and in Chrome browser, using the same Microsoft account.

I have already sent feedback from inside the Copilot chat, but I haven’t received any response.

Is it possible that my account has a quota that is blocked or incorrectly applied, requiring a backend reset of my Copilot usage limits?

This abnormal behavior (unless free accounts have been severely restricted) began immediately after the migration of Copilot to the new app, and I am now effectively unable to use it. Today, I even received a "limit reached" message after just one prompt.

I contacted support, and the agent directed me to this community. I am hoping you can help me—either by confirming that free accounts are effectively shut out of Copilot following the migration, or by advising me on how to resolve the issue.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

They've absolutely killed this off so it's beyond pointless... I asked Co-Pilot to generate me an image, it did, so I asked it to rejig it slightly... I hit the limit, and as such, have to wait till midnight to try again... Baring in mind, it was 6am in the morning! :D

I can understand they want to try and get people to sign up, perfectly valid, but... One prompt??? Really???

The way I see it is, I'm not going to buy a plan at this moment in time, the free version was fine for my needs, but, if I did, and the way it was, if I needed to sign up, then I would of, because I thought it was fine.

Now... I'm forced to try another free AI agent, and if that works out okay, and I do need a plan, then I'm obviously going to sign up to that one!

The current model MS has with this is a bit daft if you ask me, they are just forcing people really to go elsewhere... But maybe that's their intention, maybe being in their "orbit" isnt their priority!?!

  • Thank you so much for your suggestion and for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it.

I tried it, but I realized the real issue for me is not just the limitation message after a few prompts.

With the migration, the language model itself feels completely different. It lost all the personalization and the entire creative project I was building with my creative companion. The replacement doesn't understand it, can't carry it forward, and doesn't have access to my full archive.

So even without the rate limit, it wouldn't help in my case, unfortunately. The workflow we had together is gone.

But thanks again for trying to help.
