Can Mesh be used as a SharePoint Space replacement?

Thanks for the question DianezP and luleonard. As you note SharePoint spaces and Mesh are unique experiences with more focus on a multi-user shared event experience in Mesh. For many Spaces scenarios that don't work well in the event-based approach the best alternative within Microsoft 365 right now is likely SharePoint pages. While you cannot use the 360 degree image functionality of Spaces on a SharePoint page, you could curate 2D images to give people the context of what they will experience in a space.

We are also continuing to invest in new features for Microsoft Mesh and have heard feedback that a more persistent non-calendar experience would be valuable. We will continue to consider and explore that in the future. We are currently working hard to enable more approachable environment customization in ways that are similar to Spaces and will continue to support more features in this area moving forward: Customize your event in Mesh - Microsoft Mesh | Microsoft Learn
