calculate retention rate

I would like to calculate the retention rate in Azure data explorer but I have no clue on how to do it.. I found a plugin that i could use but it often results in an error. I've tried doing it step by step and i can calculate how many people visited on the days after the day i want to view but i can't add it all together from the past month.
Can anyone help me?
There is almost no tutorial out there on how to do this in adx..

    The simplest method would be the integrated activity_metrics plugin. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-explorer/kusto/query/activity-metrics-plugin.

    But I am wondering if this is the plugin that you mentioned results in an error. If so, can you share an example of the error(s) you have experienced?
