Mail volume statistics

Hi all,

We recently moved our mailflow completly to Exchange 365. With our previous mailfilter we were able to make annual reports of the mail volume: how many mails are processed, how many messages were stopped, and so on.

We periodically have to report to the management about the mailfilter. Is it also possible to make this kind of reports in Exchange 365 (or with Microsoft Defender)? I only see data for the last 30 days, not for a complete year or half a year.
Or do we need to export the data every month and the merge the data for annual reports? Is that possible in the admin or defender portal? Or do we have to use Powershell?

Kind regards
Arjan

  • Hi, unfortunately, in the native exchange online and defender reports you only see a limited period (usually 30 or 90 days). If you have to cover an entire year, you'd better export the data periodically-such as every month-and then consolidate it manually. You can do this either from the portal (downloading the reports) or via PowerShell, saving everything for annual reports.

      Hi micheleariis,

      Thanks for your reply.
Too bad this is not possible. Manually export the data is not convenient. So I will look into Powershell what I can use to export the data to CSV or something else.

As far as I see now, the data which Explorer (in Microsoft Defender) is showing suits the must. I'm going to look for the Powershell cmd-lets I need for that...

      Kind regards,
      Arjan
