Mail routing to external thru EOP
We have Exchange 2016 Hybrid with all users' mailboxes in Exchange online ( shared mailboxes in on-premises EX 2016 servers), currently configured all outgoing email from Exchange Online coming back ...
Do you use Centralized transport? If yes, you need to disable. Once disabled and after removing the connector which is pointing to On-prem, Office365 by default route to EOP. You don't need any special configuration
