okay I got that, but is there a way around it? Like forcing the address resolution to choose the alias?

No there's not...this is how Exchange is designed. The sender will always resolve the primary address for the recipient even if the message is sent to an alias address

I found a workaround - it is possible to "Turn on sending from aliases" option in Exchange admin > Settings > Mail flow. Even though the smtp alias still gets resolved as SMTP primary address, MIME data of an email will then also contain the smtp alias which could be used in further processing.
