Exchange2019 to Full Hybrid migration
Hello,
we're planning our migration to full hybrid with the intention run in hybrid mode for quite some time before we'll look at decommissioning our on-prem Exchange server.
Our on-prem server is Exchange 2019 and email is routed to and from a smarthost in the DMZ. We already have AD connect setup and it's been properly syncing from on-prem AD to Azure AD.
I have a very simple question.
Provided we meet all requirements, can we run the hybrid migration wizard without breaking the current setup? My understanding is, that as long as we do not update the MX records to point to Exchange Online, but keep it as is, after the wizard has successfully been run, everything should still work as it does now?
Also, if we then decide to migrate some test mailboxes from on-prem E2019 to EO, emails with a recipient for which the mailbox has been migrated to the Exchange Online, should arrive without further configuratin since the migration wizard creates send/receive connectors on both, on-prem and Exchange Online?
Thank you in advance.

You can also run the migration advisor if you have a tenant and licensing available already: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mail-migration-jump
