E MAil Managed Service Accounts
Not sure where to post this so i will start here.
We are running a full 365 Exchange environment having completed the migration. The issue that we have come across is that we use Mail Enable Security groups to send Department or Location based e mails to.
Some of these are from SQL Servers and previously you could set this to Anonymous Sending protocol in SQL Mail. This now doesn't work, (which is a good thing) but i am loathed to set up an account with "Password Never Expires" to be used on the SQL Servers / SharePoint
So the question is is it possible to have Service Account similar to a AD Managed service account in Exchange where the password is controlled and changed by exchange?
Hope that this makes sense if this isn't the the correct area please tell me 🙂
- No, but you can use method 2 or 3 here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mail-flow-best-practices/how-to-set-up-a-multifunction-device-or-application-to-send-email-using-microsoft-365-or-office-365
Or send the items programmatically via Graph API: https://practical365.com/upgrade-powershell-scripts-sendmailmessage/
