Directory Sync'd Distribution Groups Not Resolving via Outlook

Hi Folks,

 

Apparently this has been happening since we did our migration to exchange online. As an aside, we're planning on keeping directory sync/hybrid in place for the long term. 

 

What's happening is all of the distribution groups that were created in our on-premise exchange are not able to resolve (members, or any data) in Outlook in Exchange Online. 

 

Error: "Unable to connect to retrieve additional data" (also in below screenshot). 

 

Any idea how we can resolve this? I've tried adding .mail.onmicrosoft.com smtp address to the distribution group and sync'ing that up but that hasn't helped... I'm not finding any topics on this or any sign that others are even experiencing it.. Which would be strange, we followed the procedures pretty darn accurately... 

 

Any chance anyone has any idea what's happening here?
