did your on-prem exchange server is reachable from internet? you didn't need to sync users to M365 to use on-prem mailbox with basic usability. use this tool to getting started https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/exchange

The test works, the server is accessible from outside.
On the phone you can log in to the server with active sync, only the outlook application does not work.
This is what it says:
"lost connection to the mail server due to timeout"
Must use the outlook client on the phone, so no other mail app works
Is there any other suggestion
