'Work - Edge' Desktop Shortcut Reappears after deleting and reopening Edge Browser
- Aug 29, 2023
Hi Everyone - The fix for this was released to Microsoft Edge Beta Version 117.0.2045.12. If you have access to the Beta Channel, please test and let us know if the issue has been resolved.
The fix should also be included in the next Stable release, which should be later this week if there are no delays. Thanks!

It is not a fix, but more of a temporary workaround until an actual fix is developed.
I have found that if you turn off the briefcare in Edge Browser (Settings >Appearance> Briefcase (just under theme). Restart the browser. Then delete all of the duplicated links, it has stopped on the vast majority of my users computers. I also set up a logon script, nothing more than a batch file, that deletes the files at %userprofile%\onedrive-unit\desktop\work*.lnk It will remove any created links each time the computer starts or the user logs on.
Hopefully a full solution is found and pushed out with patching soon. As I said, this is only a work around that does seem to work for the majority of my users. Hope it helps.
What is the best way to push this setting to my PCs in Azure AD?

SvenMaes I've not been able to find any way to automate that setting. I can't find a registry entry or GPO that controls it. Best solution we've had is just running the powershell script I posted every few days to clear out the mess (which eventually comes back because of that setting).

Thx.
Hoping for a Microsoft fix...- Robert_T2000Sep 19, 2023Brass Contributor
To make things worse, now Microsoft Teams shortcuts are duplicating.
- Pookie1302Sep 19, 2023Copper Contributor90k + Shortcuts have shut down an office. I am having to manually delete in batches of 1000 on OneDrive online.
- XenoDrakeSep 25, 2023Copper ContributorThis is still happening. The fix works but its tedious doing it twice for each user with this issue for Physical and Azure workstations.
Would like Microsoft to fix this soon.
