'Work - Edge' Desktop Shortcut Reappears after deleting and reopening Edge Browser
End user removes the spam Desktop shortcut labeled 'Work - Edge': Once they reopen the Edge browser, the app shortcut reappears.
Hi Everyone - The fix for this was released to Microsoft Edge Beta Version 117.0.2045.12. If you have access to the Beta Channel, please test and let us know if the issue has been resolved.
The fix should also be included in the next Stable release, which should be later this week if there are no delays. Thanks!

If you remove those shortcuts from your computer AND from ONeDrive, do they come back in version 116.0.1938.69? I feel you may be dealing with 2 different problems. 1. Edge created these annoying shortcuts. 2. OneDrive is now replicating them around for you.
Yes but only occasionally. I can successfully recreate the issue if I close Edge on two different computers and the same time. Essentially, Edge is creating the shortcut at the same time on both computers and it's locked by the creation process so the one Edge needs to make a shortcut with an altered name.
- Being logged in to 2 computers at the same time while using OneDrive on both computers will give you strange shortcuts with the computer name in the name of the shortcut, that is normal Onedrive behavier. We need to remove OneDrive out of the conversation and focus on Edge creating shortcuts. Only log into 1 computer, remove all shortcuts other than "Microsoft edge" and see if you can recreate the issue.
- This is not normal OneDrive behavior. We've had our dual computer/OneDrive deployment for 3 years (since COVID hit) and never had this issue until Edge "Business" was deployed recently. FYI, Edge just updated to Version 116.0.1938.76 and the issue remains. The only functioning workaround is to disable the Business option.
Yes, using only one computer without OneDrive does not cause this issue. Also using two computers but waiting a few seconds (5-10) before opening Edge on the second computer also does not cause this issue.
Edge is locking the shortcut.
