So, is it still undecided whether this feature will be officially released?
We are having trouble because the sidebar has become a loophole for the filtering feature in the extension we provide. It seems that there are cases where the sidebar cannot be restricted through Intune.

MicrosoftYamadaKsk Hello - Do you have the HubsSidebarEnabled policy set to "Disabled"? (More information: Manage the sidebar in Microsoft Edge | Microsoft Learn) If it is "Disabled" the sidebar should be blocked in your organization.

On a separate note, even with the HubsSidebarEnabled policy set to "Disabled," we were unable to prevent the "Open in sidebar" feature. It would be helpful if setting the HubsSidebarEnabled policy to "Disabled" could restrict all sidebar-related functions.
