Error code: STATUS_BREAKPOINT when accessing Amazon.com
I'm hoping someone will be able to get this issue resolved for me.
I recently switched from Chrome to Edge. Love Edge. My account is a company account.
When I want to go to http://www.amazon.com, the website pops up, and a second or two later, I receive an error.
This page is having a problem.
Try coming back to it later.
You could also: Open a new tab or refresh this page
Error code: STATUS_BREAKPOINT
I have cleared the cache. Uninstalled Edge. I reinstalled Edge and am still receiving this error.
I removed extensions and added them back, but I still get errors.
I'm wondering if it is a setting that I am not aware of or do not fully understand in the setting.

I can still recreate the issue, but it does seem to only be happening on the business Amazon site. When I am on my personal account it does not. I am running Version 126.0.2592.68 (Official build) (64-bit).
Thanks

SmartMag We are having the same issue with accessing our PLM tool (Windchill). PTC (makers of windchill) have opened a ticket with microsoft and where alerted this is an issue with drop downs not being able to handle many items in it. I'm not sure if its a memory overflow issue or what not, but started a few revs ago and is killing us now.

jdnim Hello - I believe you are running into this Chromium issue (Tab hangs/crashes on select with large number of options [341095522] - Chromium). The fix should have shipped to Microsoft Edge in
Version 125.0.2535.67: May 24, 2024. Here is the link to the release notes: Microsoft Edge release notes for Stable Channel | Microsoft Learn
Have you updated Microsoft Edge? Are you still reproducing on versions larger than 125.0.2535.67? Thanks!

Edit to add: There is also separate Chromium issue (Getting STATUS_BREAKPOINT error when opening select dropdown [347657130] - Chromium) you might be running into that started in version 126. We are still waiting for the fix for this issue.

Kelly_Y Yes I can reproduce the error and yes I am using versions past this.
I am able to cause this to happen with the following browsers:
Edge for Business production: 126.0.2592.61 (64 bit)
Edge for Business Beta: 126.0.2592.61 (64 bit)
Edge for Business Dev: 167.0.2651.2 (64 bit)
Chrome : 126.0.6478.115
Chrome Beta: 127.0.6533.5
FireFox version: 115.12.0esr works as expected and does not crash.
I do see that there is a possible fix in the canary build path... https://issues.chromium.org/issues/347657130
- SmartMagCopper ContributorAfter extensive research, I discovered that some websites are not built for Edge, and Amazon is one of them. I was able to find instructions to enable Internet Explorer if Edge cannot read the site, it should automatically switch to Internet Explorer. I enabled it in the settings and allowed all sites to switch to Internet Explorer if it can not be loaded in Edge. I tested it yesterday, and it works. Now, when I am on http://www.amazon.com, I get a little popup at the top of the screen stating that I am viewing this site in Internet Explorer with an option to reload in Edge. This does not work every time on the first try, but refresh helps, and once Edge picks up the issue that it can't read, it switches to Internet Explorer, but I am not entirely sure how and when it happens. I recently switched from Chrome to Edge and fell in love with it. Here are the instructions.
Go to the .... (4 dots) in the corner of your browser. Go to settings, type in Internet Explorer in search, and enable the Internet Explorer Mode (IE mode) button. Also, enable "Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IEmode)" and add the website link to the "Internet Explorer mode pages".
Hope this helps others.- Kelly_Y

SmartMag Sorry, this does not sound correct. Amazon.com should work as expected on Microsoft Edge and you should not need to switch to Internet Explorer.
If you provide the information from edge://crashes/, I can check with the team to see if you are running into a known issue.

SmartMag Hello - Does this issue only happen on Amazon.com? What version of Microsoft Edge are you using? Was this working in one version and after updating it started reproducing?
You should be able to navigate to edge://crashes and submit feedback to the team for your specific issue. Also, if you send me the Bucket ID/Cab ID I could try to ask the team directly. Thanks!
