Edge Group Policy BUG with New TAB PAGE - RECOMMENDED is getting ENFORCED and not changeable.

Microsoft
Hi! The root cause for the recommended policy not working as expected is that Microsoft Edge doesn't provide any user interface to allow a user to set their New Tab Page location (like Daniel Smith mentioned above with the screenshots).
A user can set a new tab page location by installing a New Tab Page Microsoft Edge Extension from the Extension Store.
If you haven't had a chance yet, you can submit feature requests through the browser. ("..." menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback). Thanks!

- shockoFeb 03, 2023Iron ContributorIs this extension MS authored though? if not it will never get past our sec team 😞 I understand you point regarding the lack of a UI pane to set the new tab landing page but I'm still wondering why MS would not add this other than they wish to control the new tab page to push the O365 toolbar etc. which I would under stand but I too work in a healthcare with users who want our familiar Intranet page on every new tab.
PS: I have raised this as a feature request vi the in0-built feedback option in Edge. - AndrewSAIFJan 31, 2023Iron Contributor

I appreciate the suggested workaround. However, I installed the 'https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/custom-new-tab/onagfgjlokaciajhjmajljcfanonbmia' extension from the Extensions store, and it does not appear to override the page I've set by group policy.
While this might be a good workaround for a consumer install, this doesn't address many enterprise use cases, even if it worked with the policy set.
I still have to explain and justify this bug regularly at my organization, where I am required to have the default Home/New Tab page set to our intranet site. I would be happy to share some use cases via DM if there isn't enough information at hand to understand why this bug would be a problem for folks. Thanks,

Kelly_Y Has Microsoft Provided a Group Policy setting provided with this extension to allow us to centrally control the destination of the new tab page extension? Otherwise, this isn't very useful in the enterprise.
