Edge for Android top bar after update to 121.0.2277.105 version

On a work fully managed Android device, after the Edge for Android app was updated to 121.0.2277.105 version when I open the Edge app on top of the screen I get a bar named "Edge" that will take from the screen and is very annoying.
I noticed that this is happening only if I am not prompted to enter the device PIN when I open the app, if I am prompted to type the PIN then the content is rendered properly.
A workaround that I find was to change the device theme but this will be only a temporary fix as next time if I will open the app and I am not asked to type the PIN the top bar will reoccur. The application protection policy is enforced via Intune, and for inactivity we have 10 minutes set up for recheck the access.
Anyone come across with this issue?

Thanks.
Mario

    Any news on this?

This issue makes Edge for Android barely usable. The top bar covers the website contents and cannot be accessed otherwise.

It's even worse when using the address bar at the bottom. I attached some screenshots.

felipecrs - Do you have the Intune App Protection Policy setting "Approved keyboards" = "Require"?

Based upon the most recent investigation, it seems to be specifically reproducing with that policy and the team is working on this issue.

Hi Kelly_Y, thanks for answering. I don't know how do I check if I have such policy enabled or not (I'm not an Intune administrator). However, indeed I can only use the Android keyboard approved by my company, so I guess the answer is yes.

  • It passed more than a year from this post. Any update or reason why is it still happening on all android devices with app protection policies? Edge ui is having issues becouse of this. Example unable to close first or second tab, unable to see X button. And many others.

What exactly is the root cause of this, or temporary workaround while still having all protection policies on byod android devices.

2025-06, all latest, android, Intune, edge..

      Hi,

Unfortunately , none of my troubleshooting steps were able to fix the issue and MS support could not help either.
I checked with different MS support teams, every time the resolution at their end was "the settings (device, policy are fine) is not out team, try with team..."

        Hi Kelly,

1 year later - did you get any response from the mobile team please?

This bar appearing in the Edge app when signed in with work account is very frustrating.

        Thanks

  • Mario_1313 Hello - Are you able to provide a screenshot of the bar you are describing?  Thanks!

      Hi Kelly_Y ,

      Please see below:
The screen of the device when you open Edge without being prompted to type the PIN (enforced via App protection policy-Intune):

this is the full screen on a tablet running a movie:

if we are prompted to type the PIN when we open Edge the top bar will not be displayed and the content is rendered as it suppose to be:

      Thank you.

Mario_1313 Thanks for following up with the screenshots!  I've reached out to the mobile team and will follow up with any insights from them.
