Why does Edge turn on Feed after an update?

I always disable the news feed since day 1 of using Edge but they keep turning it back on. Now occasionally every few weeks when I open the Edge browser I'm unpleasantly greeted with these dramatic, overhyped news stories on the New Tab. It's hideous and distracts from my work flow.

All I want to see is the background picture of the day, not the latest drama that happened to some celebrity I never heard off.

Why does Microsoft keep doing this??? I don't want to see news AT ALL, hence the reason I always turn off the Feed option but they keep turning it back on for me. I never asked for this inconvenience!
