Video Super Resolution Missing Options in Setting
- May 05, 2025
Seems like MS has deleted this function across all channels. Here is a temporary solution for RTX VSR:
edge://flags/#edge-video-super-resolution
Set the above flag to disable and restart browser, and this will force to enable RTX VSR whenever available.
There will be no toggle, and you have to control RTX VSR using Nvidia app or control panel.
This bug still remains just the same today. On the latest stable release at the moment (139.0) on the latest public non insider build of Win 11 (24H2 26100.4770). I remember RTX VSR breaking before in Edge and it taking months to get fixed, then this happens. Come on guys.
I truly like Edge and it's been my default since the Chromium based release. Including on mobile. But it shouldn't take months to fix this kind of stuff. Thankful I figured out the workaround posted when I noticed this issue. Made a post on the Edge sub-reddit to see if it was just me and obviously it's not.
RTX VSR is also broken on Firfox currently (at least for YouTube) . It won't work on YouTube unless you use something like uBlock Origin, not for ad blocking but by adding the following to "My Filters".
www.youtube.com###ytd-player.ytd-watch-flexy:style(border-radius:0 !important;)
www.youtube.com##ytd-masthead:style(opacity:0.98 !important;)
Found that fix on Reddit, something to do with the UI of YouTube's video player causing a bug that makes it where RTX VSR does not enable unless the video is fullscreen. Thankfully that fixes it (you can verify by going into the Nvidia app>System>Video click on Super Resolution and check the box for "show status indicator on video" and it will display a little watermark in the top right of the video whenever RTX VSR is in use. How I was able to verify that the fix posted here works as well when I was troubleshooting and thankfully thought to give the fix OP shared a try.
Still would be nice if this doesn't take ~3-6 months to fix like last time.
