Verticle tabs are gone
Merc410 Thank you for taking the time to share that feedback, and we're sorry to hear that you're feeling frustrated.
Vertical tabs, like most of our features, is part of an iterative rollout process. (You can read more about it here.) Thus, we generally don't announce them until they're truly available to everyone within a specific preview channel; we don't want users such as yourself to expect it, then be disappointed if the team pulls it back for more testing. But please rest assured that once it's ready for our Insiders to try out fully, we will have an announcement about vertical tabs!
Our team does spend a significant amount of time curating and posting the changelog for each week's new Dev channel release. If you have specific feedback about what you'd like to see there, please let us know!

Hello Deleted
It would be a really cool thing to have all the features controlled in the canary version, as this is the main purpose of this channel
We know that the canary contains instabilities and we are aware of that
We just want to test the feature, even though it’s still broken
It's okay for the features to be controlled in the dev version, but I still don't see the reason why the controlled features exist in the canary version
If you can inform us
Why do controlled resources exist in the canary version?

Why do controlled resources exist in the canary version?to help them quickly identify issues that may impact performance and reliability and also prevent them from impacting everyone in the same channel at the same time.

eguif Great question! We do progressive rollouts, even in Canary, so that our feature teams can make more informed decisions about functionalities as some people start using it.

Deleted OK, but don't you think it would make sense to make it available to users who are specifically requesting it? Who better to test it than users excited about and highly motivated to use the feature?
My own personal experience is I've used vertical tabs for more than 20 years in many alternative browsers, including Firefox with various tree tab extensions, Opera, Vivaldi and a few other browsers you've probably never even heard of. In all cases, I chose those browsers specifically because they supported vertical tabs. Therefore, I don't understand why you'd randomly choose users to test this feature, instead of testing it with users who have a long experience with this type of UI.
Just give us a flag, PLEASE!

bkonia It's good to hear that perspective, thank you. We've let our Tabs team know that a number of users would appreciate having that as an option; however, if you would like to "+1" that, feel free to submit that request through the in-browser feedback tool.

- Dennis5mileOct 15, 2020Silver Contributorlol, I think ya all are doing the "progressive rollouts" a little toooo thinly. It needs a more broader span. I'm still waiting for it.. sigh..
