User data directory redirect

It's possible to redirect the User Data folder by using the Set the user data directory policy, e.g.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge]
"UserDataDir"="D:\\Edge"

This works fine for a single channel, e.g. Stable, but I'd like to know what happens if Dev is installed also. Is Edge smart enough to differentiate between them in the redirected folder?

[I'll happily test for myself, but I won't bother if someone can say that it doesn't work ...]

    Answering my own question: No, Edge wasn't smart enough to work out that the Default folder it found belongs to Stable, not Dev. In other words, it isn't possible to redirect the User Data folder for more than a single channel. Strange things happen if you try.

    If anyone finds a workaround, I'd like to hear it.
