Unable to start new email on Edge

I could not start a new email, nor reply to incoming, despite trying several remedies. Previously I was unable to move from placing a Tesco order to Payment until their helpline suggested working on Chrome - they knew of the problem. After making Chrome my default browser I can again send emails.
