Top Feedback Summary for December 15

UPDATE DEC 16TH: We wanted to share a brief update on history sync before we head off for the holiday break. While we are continuing to slowly roll this feature out to all users, it should be available for some of our Beta app users on mobile devices, and in our Canary, Dev, and Beta channels on Windows/Mac devices. This month, we are starting to roll this out to Stable users in certain regions, beginning with the UK. We expect to include additional regions throughout January, and will work to provide updates in these summaries as we get them.

Greetings, Insiders! This is the last major update we’re doing for the year of 2020! We will be back with your top feedback updates the first week of January 2021. Let’s jump in to the details for this week’s update.
First up, we have two items moving to Planned for January. Enable customers to pin sites to Start Menu in Windows we expect to be rolled out to everyone in all channels in January, however some users in our Dev and Canary channels should be able to use this functionality now. Users can also expect to see Edge should respect the default PDF viewer addressed in January.
As we continuously review the items that are on this list, we sometimes need to make adjustments. This is the case with Edge launches with previous session’s tabs when “On startup” setting is set to “Open a new tab”; after a careful evaluation, the team has decided to mark this item as Not Planned. This experience is a bug we are working with partners to resolve, however because incoming feedback we’ve received has significantly dropped and priorities have been adjusted, we wanted to be transparent with our status on this. If anything changes again as we evaluate the feedback you all are sending in, we will provide another status update.

- Wait a minute! What about top 3 items that are still marked as "Planned for December"? Many of us are awaiting them before holiday season. Sad to see no updates about them?

this is currently in Edge but behind a flag and it does not work on all websites, I think that's the reason it hasn't been checked off the list yet.

I see some strange behavior, signs of a 2nd row on my NTP in the Canary channel

"warn before closing multiple tabs" is very useful, maybe it will still come to Canary in December since it's the only channel that will receive updates (not just small ones) during holiday
If history sync comes into play, will that history data be associated with our Microsoft account even if we turn off sync?

So that I'm clear with this Not Planned item, Edge launches with previous session’s tabs when “On startup” setting is set to “Open a new tab”, this requested behavior was so that the Edge would open with a new tab along with all the previously open tabs? As it is now, it's crucial for me that when Edge restarts, all my previously open tabs return, but I don't also need a new tab to open (I can do that myself!). We had that issue/bug a while back where closed sessions of the browser would clear all previously opened tabs and that was a disaster for me. I've since tried to make sure important sessions were saved as collections, but I sometimes forget.... As it stands now, if I accidentally close Edge (it happens more often than I'd like, lol), if I restart my laptop, or if it crashes, Edge has been restarting with all my previously opened tabs. It's been GREAT and I just want to make sure that this 'Not Planned' item doesn't change that!

*MAJOR UPDATE*
When I copy a GIF from Edge mobile and into Messages on iPhone and send, they don't play. Currently I am using Safari to send GIFs in Messages. When I used to do this from Google Chrome to Messages they played. Will this be addressed? When?

I sometimes see this behavior and it happens when Edge crashes or I turn off computer/restart when Edge is still open with tabs. that's an expected behavior.
