Feedback: Provide an option to set a custom URL for a new tab instead of showing the new tab page
I tried changing the Group Policy for:
- Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Microsoft Edge>Allow web content on New Tab page
- Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Microsoft Edge>Set New Tab page URL
Neither do as described in the Policy Editor and achieve the above mentioned i.e. change the URL of the New Tab page. Earnestly hoping for this functionality.
Feedback: Communicate with Extension developers to update their websites with info/link to the Microsoft Edge Addons page
E.g. HTTPS everywhere is listed in the Microsoft Edge Addons page. However, the https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere contains no link it. So the user cannot verify the authenticity of the addon, tempting the user to install the addon from the Chrome Webstore instead.
Regards.
Takmil Thanks for reaching out! You will want to try out "Configure the new tab page URL" under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge > Startup, home page and new tab page. Please let me know how that works for you!
With regards to the extension site you mention, that would be on them to update where they offer their extension. If a user is particularly worried about an extension, I encourage them to report it in the store so that the team can verify. If a user is more comfortable enabling the extension from the Chrome store in Edge, they also have that ability. I do appreciate you bringing this up, though. 🙂

tistou Thanks for reaching out! This policy is available only on Windows instances that are joined to a Microsoft Active Directory domain or Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise instances that are enrolled for device management. Does the device you're testing on meet those requirements? If you're still having trouble try configuring through the group policy editor instead of directly in the registry.
