MissyQ: "Opening a new tab is too slow"
It would be faster if users could actually choose what a new tab loads when opened. I'd rather either a blank tab, or a custom URL, such as my homepage. I don't see why it's not possible to choose where a new tab goes, other than by having to install an extension. Even Internet Explorer used to let you choose what a new tab loads!
"Update does not always work reliably"
Quite-often you can just hit refresh after an error-message and the update does then go-through successfully. But no-other browser I use seems to ever have an issue updating, only Edge. And my device is running 20H2, so it's not like I have an option to uninstall, reboot, and reinstall as it's treated as a built-in Windows component from 20H2 onwards, so DISM and SFC are your only options to attempt any kind of repair (assuming either does actually service the Edge component?)

You can change what is opened on startup: edge://settings/startHomeNTP

ajasnz Thanks, but I am already aware that you can make Edge startup to a certain page, and also define your homepage, along with showing the Home icon on the toolbar. My comment was that Edge should allow users to choose what page is loaded when they click the "New Tab" icon, which is not currently offered, so your comment does not address that

I want this option to just be there as-standard, within the normal Settings menu. So when I go to <edge://settings/newTabPage>, I want options there to let me choose whether a new tab opens to either a custom URL, a blank page, or Microsoft's built-in offering.
Internet Explorer 11 and Firefox both offer the ability to choose where a new tab goes to, I don't see why Edge also can't...
