The official place to report bugs
On Windows 10 22H2, icons for some Microsoft Store / built-in Windows apps are missing from the taskbar.
The affected apps include Microsoft Photos, Clock, Calculator, Microsoft Store, and some other Windows built-in or Microsoft Store apps.
Win32 applications are not affected. Their taskbar icons continue to display normally.
The affected applications themselves launch and work normally; only their taskbar icons are missing.
The problem persists after restarting Windows Explorer and rebuilding the Windows icon cache. Other Windows repair/troubleshooting procedures have also been attempted without resolving the issue.
The problem appeared after a recent Windows 10 update.
Expected behavior:
Microsoft Store and built-in Windows applications should display their normal icons on the taskbar.
Actual behavior:
Some Microsoft Store / built-in Windows applications have no taskbar icon, while ordinary Win32 applications display their icons normally.
Windows version: Windows 10 22H2
OS build: 19045.7725
Latest installed update: KB5122878
This appears to affect the Microsoft Store/AppX application group specifically rather than the general Windows icon cache.
