Rename in Windows Explorer has been broken for many years, going back to at least Windows 10. When I click on a file name to rename it, and then start typing, Windows repeatedly reselects the file name, making it difficult to rename a file. Usually after 30 seconds or so it calms down and stops reselecting the file so frequently. Other limp-around solutions have been to use Power Rename (overkill for a simple rename) or to type the new name in another program, then copy and paste. I was excited to read that Microsoft is going to improve Windows' performance and reliability. I hope this bug gets fixed.
