Really? Things are actually working fine for me in Canary now (I was using Dev before). Screenshot:

    I figure out how to allow this.
    
    Within the Edge browser you have to go to this url
    edge://flags/#edge-click-once
    
    Then search for Themes. Then enable Allow installation of external store themes
