    Hey, everyone! Thanks so much for this discussion, we've learned a lot from your comments. We'd like to first make it clear that we do not plan to integrate Google services into Microsoft Edge by default. We are considering including an opt-in experience for users to attach their Google account to Microsoft Edge but are not ready to make a decision on it just yet.

     

    I'd like to take this time to reiterate what Elliot posted back in November: One option available to you today to use a single user identifier across the various services you use is to create a new Microsoft Account using a @gmail address. 

     

    As you know, you can currently import your data from Chrome by going to edge://settings/importData. You can also sign into Google websites and remember your password in Microsoft Edge to reduce the number of times you need to sign in. Accessing your Microsoft Edge data on-the-go is easily done by signing into Microsoft Edge with a Microsoft account and syncing with Microsoft Edge across other devices and mobile.

     

    As always, we will update here once we have more information. Please continue to provide your feedback and suggestions around this feature; the team will continue to review feedback even if we have moved something to Not Planned.

No matter what your opinion is of Chrome, giving the users the option of having the convenience is the right decision I think.

Exactly.
But having any sign of Google inside Microsoft Edge would eliminate the convenience.

if you are looking for convenience, you should also ask Google to include Microsoft sign in in their Chrome browser.

    HotCakeX  You have to remember who is chasing who for browser usage share here.

     

    Google don't need Microsoft account users. Microsoft want to take some of that space back from Chrome, and one of the ways that they can achieve more easily is by making the switch as simple as possible.

      Bottom line is this.... Microsoft can not nor should not sacrifice its users info/data to google, just to try and pull some of googles chrome users away. And if you add anything of Google to Edge coding you are sacrificing users info because it will be guaranteed Google will mine the edge users..... Microsoft users are Trusting them to keep their data safe... You can not do that by adding anything Google to Edge. Google is NOT trustable....

      p.s.  Personally, this thread has been opened since 11/15/19 and nothing new has been talked about, but the same arguments have been presented by both side over and over again.. I think this thread just needs to be closed till You(the edge team) makes a decision.....

      MSFT should work on import/export features of the new Edge, perfect it and also add support for importing data from Google chrome beta/dev/canary channels as well. these will help Chrome users switch to Edge browser easily. the answer is that, Not putting Google in Edge.

      Also if you look at here,

      there are over 3 Billions Microsoft account out there.
