SharePoint behavior on new Edge

Hi.

Are there any plans to have a SharePoint on-prem experience similar to IE11 on the new Edge? 

For instance, when clicking on an excel file on a document library, it is downloaded instead of opening. That is quite confusing to our users, who are not used to having to upload the file again when they finish editing it locally.

    I can understand the confusion, and this seems like a popular request.

     

    This feature is getting looked into by the engineering team.
