This has recently started happening for me. If I have my mouse and it stays inside the Edge frame, then the tabs auto disappear as before. But if I cross the tabs from being inside the Edge window to go to my other monitor and out of edge, the bar does not collapse and it covers content. Very annoying.
It happend to me too after activating the Volume Booster extension on a tab.
