Improve font rendering to be on par with Firefox or at least original Edge
I suspect they aren't going to do anything about it....which is probably why fawkes doesn't return here anymore to give us an update...
Appears like the MS Edge/Chrome team has no plans to do anything with it (just like the Chrome developers)...So, ones choice is either to use Google Chrome or Edge/Chrome with the Font Rendering Enhancer extension...or switch over to Firefox...which has GREAT web page rendering and requires no add ons....
craig10x I'm not going to use Firefox. If you thought that Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge were RAM pigs, Firefox makes them look positively neat and tidy. I've seen Firefox chow down on darn near eight gigabytes of RAM and figuratively smile about it.
As for Microsoft not fixing the font rendering issue, that's why I'm here. I'm going to pester them until they fix this crap.

relu84Thank you for pointing that website. I shared some snapshots captured from my Laptop with the people there. Hope the developers would realize the problem and have a fix soon.

sweetdogtyler - I've noticed some kind of activity on this bug: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=534732 in which a few @microsoft e-mail addresses have been added about two weeks ago. Don't know if it means anything, but there is a chance someone from Microsoft at least took a look at the issue.

The fonts rendering of the tab tiles and favorites items also have the same problems, especially when the screen resolution are high.
Don't understand why Microsoft's employees keep silent. For me, the fact is there is not yet an official plan or timeline to fix the issue.
I don't care if the new edge takes xxx Mb memory less than Chrome the font rendering is however everything I see.

Hello,
Looks like this has been going on for a while, and I'm wondering if you have had any luck getting in contact or submitting any feedback and getting a response in relation to the font rendering.
Currently using Font Rendering Enhancer on latest ChrEdge set to font side 30 out of 100, and it is seeming to do a good job.
Thanks,
Best,
d

I agree...Firefox does use a LOT more memory then either Chrome or Edge/Chrome...I did call this to the attention of Josh Bodner, another member of the MS Edge/Chrome team in another discussion on the MS Edge Development forum...
He said they do definitely plan to do something about it but unlike UI changes, it involves internal changes that take much longer... They are aware that Edge/Chrome doesn't render as well as original Edge did before they adopted the Chrome base...
Sounds a bit hopeful...but i wish it wasn't going to have to take a long time...meanwhile, i will continue to use the font rendering enhancer extension to get the improvement...
