Please restore NORMAL, ORIGINAL Edge icon on Mac.

I did send it to the Edge team several times. Well, I do realize they probably won't do anything. My post here is more of a rant.

I strongly dislike that Microsoft (as well as some other companies) scaled their icons down in order to squeeze them into a rounded square on Mac. Under real-world working condition, it just makes the icons look totally tiny and hardly distinguishable - for no reason whatsoever.

This white square is absolutely unnecessary. It only reduces icon visibility as well as its aesthetical appeal - without providing any benefits to the user whatsoever.

Microsoft icons are well designed, good looking icons. I want to see them in their normal size without any useless white squares.

Now, I'm myself a Mac developer so I know exactly why Microsoft decided to castrate their own icons on Mac:

On macOS Big Sur, Apple introduced some icon appearance "guidelines" - which, in essence, where just generic suggestions that noone really was obligated to follow. However, some companies - Microsoft included - were way too eager to blindly follow Apple's questionable suggestions. So they just scaled down their existing icons dramatically in order to put them inside a useless white square.

By the way, Apple actually never suggested that developers had to disfigure their icons and make them uglier in order to follow Apple's rounded square concept. There are creative ways to adapt to this concept without destroying perfectly good existing icons. Microsoft, however, has chosen the worst solution possible (just like, unfortunately, several other companies).

Once again, the best Microsoft could do is simply ignore Apple's pathetic design advices and preserve their icons as they are. After all, Microsoft has to have some pride in their own design work. It's not like Apple is some kind of authority of a flawless UI design. They made plenty of horrible UI choices through the years.
