Playback of .MPG video

Does the current version of Edge support the playback oof old .mpg video? Our org uses a web app that has .mp4 and .mpg video files in it to be viewed. When users click the link to run the .mpg they receive the message "Your browser cannot display this encoding type". The .mp4 plays without issue.
