Paused videos in news feed articles does not remain paused

I like to be able to read my news without getting blasted by audio for video that's no longer on my screen and is rather disruptive to scroll up and down looking for the offending video to pause.  My usual hack to fix this is to "inspect" the video and delete the offending <DIV> but, no one should have to do this, or keep pausing the video from restarting.
