Ongoing sync between Microsoft Edge and Chrome - Discussion

We implemented Edge for our enterprise environment because Chrome is lacking in configuration aspects we need. However, many of us, myself included still would prefer Chrome for our personal browser. That being said, many of the aspects of how these are used need to stay in sync, or we are constantly having to do double work and do this process manually. That includes the fact, that I'm a web developer and so I'm constantly switching between multiple browsers for testing and research. For us, this would be an ongoing requirement. Without this, I would just use Edge in the most minimal fashion...or possibly we would look into switching to Chrome completely and deal with those issues.
I don't know if a Chrome extension would fulfill this need. I would need to know the scope and functionality.
I would think because of Edge being used in an enterprise environments Microsoft should not and probably will not build any kind of cross browser sync into the Edge browser it's self. A feature like that seems would be a giant security hole for a lot of businesses. For this reason I think your only hope is if an extension can be built that can do the sync totally on it's own with out anything being built into the browser. This way businesses could block it and only individuals that want the extension would install it.
The part about web development I would assume that you would have to test across different browsers any how and I don't see how this would help unless every browser would have the same feature. With that being said I don't do web development so maybe I'm missing something here.
Also it seems that when Edge switched over to being built with Chromium this should have been a major improvement for developers in cross browser testing.
