No longer able to sort collections in Edge Version 112.0.1722.64
I recently updated Edge and the ellipsis on the top of my collections no longer has the option to sort, only "Manage" and "Learn more". Where did the sort option go?????

Yes the new version is mostly plus useless looking social media rubbish and minus the useful sort facility.
My only hope is that it is now at least more reliable and faster.
There is a third party add on that does the same thing and probably better but unfortunately it stores its collections 'securely' on its own AWS cloud rather than the user's own cloud storage which is a brilliant own goal.- This is really incomprehensible. I've just tried to tidy up my Collections, but I cannot easily sort them, I still cannot search them, and now we're given utter drivel at the bottom as if it were worth following. What an astounding waste of internet traffic if millions of users are all being shown as much garbage as I am. If I set the options so that those don't show, I cannot even see my own collections!

As usual with any Microsoft comment, nobody seems to pay the slightest attention to user problems. I suspect the fact they added all that "ideas" garbage at the bottom meant the list couldn't be sorted easily, so they just dropped it. I also suspect that the only reson it was changed was to claim to advertisers that users were being directed to their sites.

I don't understand why they don't fix this. They released Edge Collections with such a fanfare, yet now they are destroying it. I also wish they would let me turn off these "Ideas". I used to have them sorted in alphabetical order, so for items near the end of the alphabet, I would often scroll to the bottom and then search upwards. Now I get totally inappropriate ideas such as: how to braid my hair like film stars, or a suggestion to watch the Noddy TV Series, etc. I'm 70, and have been bald for over 40 years. If I want to know something I'll ASK for it.
- I'm having this same problem. I use a Mac. Any chance this is only happening to Mac Users? On my iphone i can atlease search for my collection folder...but not on desk top. This puts a real ding in my ability to conduct business and stay organized, because it adds time that it will take to locate. I hesitate to ever trust Microsoft again.
If you choose "manage" on the top three dots you can reorder by dragging items to a different spot in the list. It's not too bad for me, on a PC. The iPhone versions is a bit flaky.
When you click on the three dots on an entry in collections, there is an option to "Move up" or "Move down" which moves the item one spot.Not sure yet if the reordered list is remembered.
- I have over 100 vendors in one list alone. As IF I'm gonna manually reorder anything.
- Yes, I saw that collections can be reordered individually, but I currently have more than 100 Collections! Plus, that will only order them in a way that may not be the order you want to see them displayed the next time - i.e. by date, by last viewed, etc. Basically, Collections are now useless.
- Boo....wahhh. Totally disappointed that the sort function in Collections was eliminated. Collections just became a dumping ground now and very difficult to use. Useless
- I agree, no sort plus no search = useless.
Back to using favourites, I guess (I find "groups" too easily deleted accidentally). - Bring back sorting in the main Collections pane as well as in each collection.
Referring to JNickVA1's comment: Now that scrolling to the bottom of the Collections pane fills the page with a bunch of totally irrelevant "ideas", why would anyone even bother using Edge any more? There are few things more likely to drive customers away from a product, than spuriously removing, or making almost unusable, functions that they've been using every day. I agree, this is definitely a step in the wrong direction. I have 75 Collections and now I can't even alphabetize them to find the one I want. Scrolling through is tedious enough to make me stop using this feature altogether, and having to move each one individually is insanity. There was a mention in a Nov 2022 post that Collections would be given a search function which is great but in the meantime can you please add back the ability to alphabetize? Ultimately, it would be great to be able to alphabetize, list by most frequently/and or most recently used, and search. Thanks
- It's way more than a "step in the wrong direction", it's a gigantic leap! Why would anyone bother using collections anymore?
